It’s Pride Month, and in the current political environment LGBTQ+ podcasts are more essential than ever.
QueerAF have just started a new series exploring interesting stories from the LGBTQ+ community. A recent episode looks at the legacy of Lynn Conway, the computer scientist and transgender activist. “Chances are, no matter what device you're listening to this on, without Lynn Conway's pioneering work, the device you're using wouldn't exist,” says the episode host Chuck Copenspire.
The Polari Prize Podcast, which features the very best in LGBTQ+ literature, has an episode looking at this year’s winners. In Homo Sapiens, Christopher Sweeney interviews the comedian Hannah Gadsby, who talks about their latest Netflix special Gender Agenda and the challenges gender queer comedians are currently facing.
If you haven’t already, make sure you listen to Criminally Queer, in which Hugh Sheehan looks at a miscarriage of justice based on the precise wording of a law from more than 50 years ago. Elsewhere PRIDE Daily does what it says on the tin, providing a two minute update on LGBTQ+ news from the UK and around the world. It is a project by Kevin McGrath, who has had 20 years experience on the BBC and commercial radio.
We’ll be featuring more LGBTQ+ themed podcasts throughout the month. If you have any recommendations, simply fill out this form.
