Without being dismissive about the number of people seeking a diagnosis, he looks at the gatekeepers and the latest research that has changed the criteria for a diagnosis. A challenge is that whilst some psychiatric diagnoses, such as depression and anxiety, relies upon the testimony from the patient, autism diagnoses rely historically on a doctor making observations.
