Sticking with football, the 1970 Mexican World Cup for the England Men’s team was a truly cursed affair after legendary goalkeeper Gordon Banks became ill with food poisoning before a major match.

Now this seven-part series brought to you by his grandson Ed Jervis and the investigative journalist Gabriel Gatehouse looks at this crazy theory suggesting that the CIA had poisoned Banks to sabotage England. At first it feels a bit of a far-fetched theory, but it was only after he started to look into it and uncovered documents in Mexico, that things became increasingly murky.

The series is an Audible Original, which means that you are currently only able to listen to the first episode unless you subscribe to Audible. If you listen on Apple Podcasts and have an Audible subscription, you can now listen to the whole series through the app rather than Audible itself.
