The Telegraph Women's Sport podcast - The rise of Women’s Sport can be seen through the rise in comprehensive sports coverage on television and in the press. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t more work to do, as this new informative podcast explores. Hosted by the Olympian and BBC broadcaster Sam Quek, each episode delves into issues and challenges athletes are facing, from insecure funding to the challenge of coaching.

An unmissable episode was a discussion about motherhood and the difficulty of balancing your time between raising a young child whilst competing in elite sport. There are frank discussions about the pressure to compete not long after giving birth and the lack of adequate support that exists within the industry.

“You can always have a plan in place when it comes to childbirth,” says Quek. “But before you know it, you are in a 48 hour labour, you are having an emergency C-section, but you are expected to get up and crack on without that support.”
