The English Disease - This new documentary series taps into football hooliganism, its origins, its history and why people are drawn to it in the first place. The ambition is to see what this subculture could really tell us about our society, even if the answers might make us feel uncomfortable.

Narrated by Sam Diss, a writer whose excellent prose flows through this podcast, the series highlights that whilst football violence has gone down over the last thirty years, it has simply evolved into something else. “This is about the ghosts of our past, the cracks in our present, and the myths we keep telling ourselves about the future.,” Sam says. There will be six episodes in all, with new episodes out every Tuesday.
