Aunt Nell have a tradition in making thoughtful podcasts exploring LGBTQ+ history, from The Quilt (which featured under the radar LGBTQ+ stories from all across the UK) to Sing it Pink (which told the story of Europe's oldest LGBTQ+ choir). Their latest project, coinciding with London Trans Pride, looks at the campaign group Press for Change, which led the campaign for full legal recognition for trans people, resulting in the Gender Recognition Act 2004.

The archive for the group, now kept at the Hall-Carpenter Archives at LSE, features a number of letters from trans people looking for help and support. “The old letters felt so alive,” says host and producer Tash Walker, “It was as if they had been written today, not in the nineties.” In the special episode, they commissions four trans sound artists to bring these letters to life. It’s a special, necessary, innovative production.
