The Curious History of Your Home - If you think that a podcast looking at the history of wallpaper, the household fridge and dishwashers wouldn’t be a totally engrossing listen, you would be wrong. This new series by domestic historian Ruth Goodman unpacks the history of everyday objects is fascinating, as you learn how an item became part of the routines of billions of people around the world.

Take the humble bath. Although its history can be traced back to the bathing culture in the Roman era, its history stems back even further, back to 2500 BC and the Buddhist monasteries at the Mohenjo-Daro in Pakistan. And whilst bathing is more commonly associated with hygiene and cleanliness, it has a long association with spiritual renewal.

“Every object in your home has a fascinating hidden history,” says domestic historian and host of this podcast Ruth Goodman. “A story that is just waiting to be told.” Trust me. She’s not wrong.
