After the death of professional dog trainer Amy Allwine was discovered to be a murder rather than what it was, a suicide, her name was linked to a murder-for-hire site on the dark web. There, people listed names hoping that hitmen would kill someone for them.
Who are the people making these threats? And are their threats at all credible? Carl sends the names listed to police but, believing that these people are under threat, he decides to reach out to people on the list warning what could happen. As a journalist you’re supposed to observe but not intervene, but how can you not when the stakes are so high, he argues.
