This is one of the most daunting things I think I've ever done in my life,” says the host Susan Calman, who has just agreed to host a new podcast to watch every film in the Carry On franchise, which ran from 1958 to 1992.

Joined by the journalist Mike Muncer, the podcast looks at each film in order through a social history lens, looking at how each Carry On depicts British life at the time, and our changing tastes and sensibilities. It allows the hosts to appreciate its merits, as well as see why certain elements haven’t aged well. They also highlight that many people’s perceptions of what they think Carry On films are aren't exactly accurate; that it isn’t all lowest common denominator.
