Julie Andrews to Narrate Pride and Prejudice in New Podcast Series

Timed with Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, a 25-part audio adaptation brings the classic novel to listeners in Julie Andrews’ unmistakable voice.

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is about to get a new life in podcast form — this time read by Dame Julie Andrews. Launching tomorrow (30th September) via podcast network Noiser, the 25-part series arrives just ahead of two milestones: Andrews’ 90th birthday and the 250th anniversary of Austen’s birth in December.

The production offers a serialised reading of Austen’s best-loved novel, with episodes released twice a week through the winter months. Available free across all podcast platforms and BBC Sounds, listeners can also access early episodes through Noiser Plus.

For Andrews, whose voice has most recently been heard narrating Netflix’s Bridgerton as Lady Whistledown, returning to Austen’s classic was a personal choice. “It has been a delight to revisit one of my favourite novels… Even 250 years on, Austen’s brilliance still shines,” she said.

At the heart of Pride and Prejudice is the story of Elizabeth Bennet and her fraught relationship with Mr Darcy — a tale of love, class, and wit that has been adapted countless times across film, stage, and audio. Noiser’s version stays faithful to the original text while relying on Andrews’ celebrated delivery to bring new depth to Austen’s world.

The project follows the success of Noiser’s Sherlock Holmes Short Stories series, narrated by Hugh Bonneville, and signals the network’s growing interest in literary adaptations alongside its history and documentary programming.

Pride and Prejudice, narrated by Julie Andrews, premieres tomorrow (30th September) with new episodes every week.
