Channel 4 News Launches TrumpWorld, A New Video Podcast on U.S. Politics

Fronted by Anushka Asthana and Matt Frei, the weekly series digs beneath the headlines of Donald Trump’s second term.

Channel 4 News is expanding its digital footprint with TrumpWorld, a new video podcast launching tomorrow (Wednesday10th September). Presented by US Editor Anushka Asthana and Europe Editor Matt Frei, the series aims to look past daily soundbites and examine the deeper forces shaping America in the Trump era.

Episodes will combine on-the-ground reporting, in-depth interviews, and audience questions from both sides of the Atlantic. Asthana will report from Washington, while Frei offers global context from Europe and beyond.

For Asthana, newly appointed as US Editor, the series arrives at a turbulent moment. “Moving to Washington has meant arriving in the eye of the Trump 2.0 storm,” she said. Frei added: “I’ve covered US politics for more than two decades, but rarely have times felt so turbulent.”

Channel 4 News hopes the show will build on its digital success, with nearly four million YouTube subscribers and 1.8 billion annual views. The video-first format reflects the broadcaster’s strategy to reach younger and international audiences through long-form journalism.

TrumpWorld premieres on YouTube and all major podcast platforms from tomorrow (Wednesday 10th Sept) with new episodes released weekly.
