Podcasts scramble to keep up with Trump

There's no shortage of podcast content covering the latest developments

Whew, what a week.

If following the latest developments of the second Trump presidency is your bag (I understand that it may not be your bag) there are a number of podcasts providing the latest news, analysis and predicting what might be happening next. No easy feat.

On The Rest is Politics: US co-host Katty Kay, the BBC’s US Special Correspondent, looked at the cosiness between Silicon Valley and Trump in Washington: “They're all moving here and buying big houses here because they know that's where, if they can get in with Donald Trump, they can benefit themselves,” she said. “I think we are moving into an era where these very wealthy tech companies become wealthier … They see this as the beginning of a gilded age."

Sky News have launched Trump 100, a podcast releasing daily episodes tracking the first 100 days of the Trump Presidency, hosted by US correspondents James Matthew and Mark Stone. One of their most recent episodes looked at Bishop of Washington the Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, who used a sermon for which Trump was in the audience to call for mercy over LGBTQ+ people and immigrants. Episodes are only 10 minutes a piece.

The Today Podcast looked at the recent ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas and the future of diplomatic relations under Trump. And for some light relief on the first few days of his Presidency (if right now, there is any), there’s In The News This Week, made by the team behind Have I Got News For You.
