For The Love Of Rugby and their production team at Crowd Network have announced a presenting partnership with Tesco Whoosh ahead of the Six Nations kicking off this month, marking a rare studio naming rights deal in the podcast space.
In a sponsorship more commonly associated with sports venues, such as Twickenham becoming the ‘Allianz Stadium’, Tesco Whoosh has acquired the naming rights to the podcast’s studio. The show’s iconic pink set will be rebranded as ‘Tesco Whoosh Studios’ throughout the Six Nations tournament.
Podcast hosts and former England players Dan Cole and Ben Youngs have both expressed their excitement for the sponsorship. Cole says, “Everyone loves eating snacks while watching rugby. Post-retirement, it’s my favourite thing to do.” and Youngs agrees, adding, “We always complain to producer Archie that he doesn’t keep the studio well stocked. Now, he can focus on the content as Tesco Whoosh has us covered.”
For the Love of Rugby will share coverage across the tournament with previews, reviews and headline guests, all recorded from Tesco Whoosh Studios. Sponsorship like this is still uncommon in podcasting; if you’ve seen similar examples you can tell us about them at info@podcastrex.com!
