The Listeners’ Choice Award is the only award at the British Podcast Awards where the winner is entirely chosen by you. This week the current top 20 was unveiled, giving us a clue of the podcast that might win. But, of course, it can all change before voting closes on the 5th September.
In alphabetical order, the current runners and riders are Betwixt The Sheets (a history podcast that tells you all of the stories your teacher mysteriously ignored), Chasin’ The Racin’ (which looks at the thrilling world of motorbike racing) and Crime Analyst (which explores why bad crimes happen, rather than just who did them.)
Next, there’s Elis James and John Robins (a podcast featuring moments from their BBC Radio 5 Live show), Help I Sexted My Boss (where Jordan North and William Hanson solve your etiquette dilemmas) and Live, Laugh, Love - LadBaby (the podcast by the people who always manage to make the Christmas Number One.)
There’s also RedHanded (the true crime podcast that has won the Listeners’ Award not once, but twice!), Saving Grace (a show by the TikTok star GKBarry), Should I Delete That? (Alex Light and Em Clarkson reflect on embarrassment), Staying Relevant (Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks on the perils of modern fame) and That UFO podcast (a show that looks up to the stars.)
Rounding off the list is The Girls Bathroom (where best friends Sophia and Cinzia share gossip and solve dilemmas), The Receipts Podcast (unfiltered conversation between Tolly T, Audrey and Milena), The Socially Distant Sports Bar (the comedy sports podcast), The Therapy Couch (Abbey Claney and Peter Crouch couples therapy), The Useless Hotline (Max Balegde and George Clarke spill tea) and Uncanny (a trip into the paranormal with Danny Robins.)
