The International Women’s Podcast Festival has released its schedule ahead of the event taking place on the 5th March in London. Presented by Content is Queen with the support of Spotify, the festival aims to bring together women working across podcasting, radio and audio storytelling.
The day will open with a session on identifying and anticipating industry trends. ‘Don’t Follow Trends - Make Them’ will be run by Beth Watson, Content Discovery Manager at BBC Sounds and Nicole Logan, Executive Producer and leader in Development at Goalhanger.
Then there’s an option between a workshop on ‘How to Navigate Working with AI’ and a talk on ‘Be Creative with Video: Interesting Ideas for Audio Podcasts’. The talk will be delivered by speakers Katie Stokes, freelance audio producer and host of Floating Space and Nicky Anderson, Head of Narrative at Stak.
Further sessions will be offered in the afternoon. ‘Beyond the Podcast: Unique Ways to Expand your Offer’ will feature panellists Chinny Ukata Ogunkusi and Astrid Madimba, co-hosts of It’s a Continent, alongside Sangeeta Pillai, CEO of Soul Sutras and creator of the Masala Podcast, Liv Bolton, producer and host of The Outdoors Fix and Jane Gerber, CEO, Managing Director and Creative Director of Peanut & Crumb.
‘How to Manage Production Budgets: From Micro-Grant to Mega-Bucks’ will focus on what can be produced at different budget levels, led by Ruth Barnes, former founder of Chalk and Blade and current founder of Sonoloom.
The next session ‘Podcast Sidequests: How to Stay Creative and Stay on Track’, is aimed at podcasters who work for themselves, with Lex Hearth, DJ, founder of Brand Lab and host of The Side Quest.
To end the programme, Vic Turnbull, founder of MIC media and CEO of MIC Podcast Club, will tackle ‘Alternative Ways To Fund Podcasting’.
The event will close with a special guest, followed by a drinks reception, an opportunity to meet other industry professionals. Acting Managing Director from Content is Queen, Francesca Turauskis says “Our unique programme means that everyone in the industry can learn something”.
