Influencer, actor, model and host of The Overshare, Gemma Atkinson, says she rejected the modelling job that would eventually make her famous on multiple occasions.
Sliding Doors, the popular podcast where well known names discuss the moments that have defined their lives, has returned for a new series and Atkinson joined host Jennie Becker this week. Asked about her first "sliding doors" moment, she says:
"Signing with my model agency at age 15. My mum asked me twice and I said no. Completely wasn’t my thing. She then told me I had a dentist appointment and collected me from school early and took me herself. They signed me and 2 months later they got me the job at Hollyoaks which was the start of my career 24 years ago."
In another twist of fate, Atkinson revealed that in her third life changing moment, none other than Oprah Winfrey encouraged her to take her place on Strictly Come Dancing. It was on that show that she met her now husband, dancer Gorka Márquez, with whom she has two children.
Further guests on the new season include Jules Von Hep and Simon Thomas.
