With defence spending and Russian aggression being talking points in the news, this new five-part series couldn’t be any more well timed.

In this new series, former ministers, military chiefs and experts are put into a bunker, and then play a fictional scenario where Russia has made an attack on the UK. It not only explores how governments prepare for doomsday style situations (we are told similar wargames are tested within the real government) but it looks at the UK’s current preparedness for war at a time of global uncertainty.

This series is a partnership between Tortoise (the new owner of The Observer newspaper) and Sky News, weaving together factual analysis and compelling production. The series is hosted by Sky News’ security and defence editor, Deborah Haynes.
