One of the most highly celebrated documentary podcasts in recent years has been the BBC Radio 4 series A History of the World in 100 Objects. Using a different artefact at the British Museum each episode, the series explores major events in global history and the forces that shape our world today.
Now, to mark the 250th Anniversary of the United States, BBC Studios and 99% Invisible have partnered up to do a similar thing; explaining US history from 100 objects.
The ambition is to not look at the well-known items, such as the Declaration of Independence, but lesser-known items that are thrown away, misunderstood, or assumed to be unessential. You can listen on BBC Sounds.
