The Observer broke a major story last year, accusing Raynor Winn, the author of the phenomenally popular book The Salt Path, of fabricating some of the major aspects central to the book’s premise. Winn denies the accusations, and the story sparked a national conversation about whether the publishing industry should go further in checking claims made in memoirs.

Chloe Hadjimatheou, who broke the story, is behind this new factual podcast where you follow her as she breaks the original story and hear compelling testimony from people who know the Raynors. The first episode is free to listen to, with further episodes currently available on Observer+ via Apple Podcasts or for newspaper subscribers.
