AV IT. The return of the BBC Radio 6 Music series that looks at the rise of music trends and era-defining bands.

Presented by Steve Lamacq and Alison Bell, an interesting aspect of this series is how it looks at the social and political context as a breakthrough when a musician or band becomes a national or global obsession.

Their latest series looks at the city of Manchester itself; how the decline of industry in the 1970s was reflected in the work of Joy Division, and how the legendary club The Haçienda was a reflection of the changing social norms in the country.
