Recently in this newsletter we have been featuring true crime stories that are rather left-field, from the heist of a golden toilet to an archeology find that resulted in a wild goose chase, making a welcome tonic from the grimmer cases podcasts like to explore.
There’s now this enjoyable and well put together BBC series exploring equally obscure cases. These include a family who dined and dashed from restaurants so frequently that the police tracked them down and a woman who was fooled into thinking she is dating someone who worked with MI6. It’s presented by radio broadcaster Rima Ahmed (who achieved national recognition after her interview with Liz Truss on the days leading up to her resignation as PM), who introduces the case and speaks to the journalist who covered the story when it first broke.
