Hosted by the celebrated pianist, composer and producer Alexis Ffrench, this new series introduces you to different musical genres with a seasoned expert. So far there have been guides to genres such as folk, emo and drill, with recommendations of popular artists to listen to in each genre if you fancy a little bit of experimentation.

What makes the series so enjoyable is not just the fact that you learn a lot about the history of different genres, or the fact that they go right down to simple introductions into how the music is structured. It is hearing the enthusiasm of their guests spekaing about the music they love. In an episode about Drum & Bass, Ffrench spoke to the DJ Sweetpea:

“The beautiful thing about Drum & Bass is the very, very low end of the bass spectrum,” says Sweetpea. “That's the rumble you feel in your chest when you walk past a Drum & Bass room.”

The series is brought to you by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, with new episodes available every week.
