A clever and informative series looking at stories from British post-war history, brought to you by the journalist Ros Taylor. A recent episode looks at the history of the Channel Tunnel and how the ambition for there to be a physical link between England and France goes all the way back to the 1800s.

In fact, at one point in the 1960s there was a proposal for the two countries to be connected by a bridge-tunnel-bridge, a slightly mad idea whereby you would drive on a bridge, onto an artificial island (with a heliport), and then descend down into a tunnel under the Channel. Thos was in to ensure that any mode of not to interrupt international shipping.
