Hollywood Exiles - Charlie Chaplin is now remembered now as one of the icons of the silent film era, but back in the 1960s he, along with hundreds of others, was exiled from Hollywood because of alleged links to communism.

This engaging new BBC World Service and CBC podcasts explores the origins of this moral panic and how and why J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI applied significant pressure not only on those within government, but also Hollywood actors and celebrities. An interesting, and personal, dimension to this podcast too is that the series is hosted by Chaplin’s own granddaughter, Oona Chaplin.
