Long time readers of this newsletter might have seen a recommendation for History’s Secret Heroes, where Helena Bonham Carter told us about someone who deserves more recognition from a pivotal moment in history.

Now the podcast has a different and equally interesting premise, looking at young heroes who inspired others or have done something notable or brave. Narrated by Bridgerton and Derry Girls’ Nicola Coughlan, you’ll hear stories such as Nelson Mandela’s acts of defiance resulting in the overthrow of apartheid in South Africa and also about Grace Darling, a young lighthouse keeper who rescued nine people after a paddle steamer crashed into the rocks nearby. It all provides a nice bit of inspiration and hope during these cold winter nights.
