A new series about language and identity hosted by Sophia Smith Galer, who you might recognise from her informative and educational videos all over the internet. The series is there to highlight how linguistic diversity is under threat, due to the policies of far-right parties and the closure of modern language departments in higher education. In this series, guests talk about the languages they speak and how it contributes to their work and identity.

There’s Zing Tseng, the co-host of the BBC Sounds podcast Good Bad Billionaire, talking about how Singlish (colloquial Singaporean English) has been devalued by the authorities in Singapore. Dictionary Corner’s Susie Dent talks about how German has a word for practically everything. You can listen to this show wherever you get your podcasts or through their YouTube.
