How it All Played Out: Sport’s Greatest Stories

How it All Played Out: Sport’s Greatest StoriesGlobal, the people behind The News Agents and The Crisis Room, have a knack in assembling the right experts to unpack a topic. In a relatively new series, the journalist Paul Hayward and the broadcaster Mark Pougatch look at some of the greatest stories in sport, exploring why they have remained in the public consciousness.

A recent two-parter looks at ‘The Thriller in Manilla,’ the match between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, arguably the greatest rivalry in sport.

Hayward says: “It encompasses huge amounts of skill, drama, controversy, racism, we can't get away from that in this story, politics, geography, and also just at a time when television was exploding in the early 70s. This is not a parochial fight, it's seen around the world.”
