A few weeks ago we featured a podcast about the hunt for a stolen solid gold toilet, making a nice change from the more grim crime stories that tend to dominate podcasting. Now there’s a new series looking at how two detectorists stumbled across a Viking hoard, one of the biggest treasure troves ever found in the British Isles, only for them to become wanted criminals.

It turns out that George Powell and Layton Davies had not asked the land owner’s permission to search for such treasures, and it wasn't long before they started selling the treasure to dealers rather than declaring it through the proper channels. Then, one of them goes on the run. The narrator for the series is Aimee-Ffion Edwards, one of the stars from the sitcom Detectorists.
