There have been a string of illuminating podcasts on the Troubles in the last two years including Stakeknife and Blood on the Dance Floor. There’s now another essential listen, created by the investigative journalist Cara MacGoogan, three years from her unmissable series on the infected blood scandal.

Whilst Stakeknife specifically explores a British Army informant who worked within the IRA, McGoogan says that the story is so much wider in its scope and involves many more people. The series looks at a number of unsolved murders connected to the British army and a mysterious fire took place not long before the arrest of key players. In case you aren’t up to speed on the Troubles, the first episode opens with a comprehensive and useful history on the conflict, helping you to place these stories within context. It’s an important and immersive series, and continues McGoogan’s great work.
