Themes from Ancient Greece can be seen in many aspects of modern life. Want some examples? Well there’s “oligarchy, plutocracy, satire, irony, hubris, nemesis, pathos, catharsis, sour grapes and blowing hot and cold, opening Pandora's box and leaving no stone unturned,” says writer Alex Andreou at the start of his new podcast.

In this series, he explores the universal themes that connect us to Greek myths. He hones in on a notable tale each episode, honing on its themes and its influences, highlighting what about that myth may have been misconstrued and highlighting its resonance. Each episode begins with a monologue (Andreou is a compelling and entertaining storyteller), before an interview with a historian or expert. It is a well crafted, enlightening listen.
