Tributes for Dr Michael Mosley

The radio, TV and podcast doctor has died

Dr Michael Mosley, who passed away last week at the age of 67, was a gifted broadcaster. He used his platform to inform and educate the public about how they can live life to the fullest.

His BBC Radio 4 series Just One Thing, which released its final episode just over a week ago, helped millions because of its trusted and straightforward health advice. Each episode recommended tiny tweaks to improve your life: from yoga, to using olive oil in food to taking cold showers and keeping a diary.

He also practised what he preached, regularly undertaking scientific experiments on himself to test scientific theories, with a charm and honesty that built a considerable fanbase. Many people said that their lives were forever improved from the tips he gave, particularly with mini-series on improving your sleep and diet. Since his unexpected passing, his podcasts have once again reached the top of the podcasting charts, as listeners use the review and comments sections to leave their own tributes.

“It is so sad to lose such a kind, knowledgeable man who just wanted to help others live better,” said one listener. “Your optimism and ability to get us to try to look after ourselves just that little more was a rare thing in such a gloomy world,” wrote another.A special tribute documentary is available to listen to. There’s Only One Michael Mosley is available to listen to now on BBC Sounds.
