This September, podcasts from around the world will unite for the Be Hope podcast takeover, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to spotlight the biggest challenges of our time — and the bold ideas that could help solve them.
Timed to coincide with the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, the global takeover will see shows shine a light on issues ranging from climate change and inequality to health and artificial intelligence. Alongside urgent challenges, the focus will be on amplifying “the bold ideas, tangible solutions and inspiring voices that can help us turn the tide on these issues.”
The campaign is coming with platform support, with podcast listening apps featuring episodes that are part of the campaign. The organisers expect the initiative to reach millions of listeners, drawing them “into an honest conversation about the people and solutions that give us hope.”
Podcasts taking part will maintain full creative control, whether they dedicate an entire episode to the theme or weave it into a segment of their usual format. As the announcement explains, “Participating podcasts will retain full editorial control, weaving the lens of hope into their own style.”
The campaign is part of the wider Be Hope initiative, which aims to shift attention towards hopeful and solution-driven storytelling around global challenges. It's open to all podcasters who would like to be involved.
Podcasters interested in joining the takeover — and being featured on Apple and Spotify’s homepages — are encouraged to get in touch with celeste@project-everyone.org by 29 August.
