The Green Room Celebrates 100 Episodes by Revisiting its Biggest Question Yet

Discussing AI, work and what comes next

The Green Room podcast has reached its 100th episode, marking the occasion by returning to the question that launched the series seven years ago: what will be the last job on earth?

The milestone episode reflects on how dramatically the conversation around artificial intelligence and work has shifted since then, back when AI still felt largely theoretical to most people.

Now, that question feels far more immediate. This episode asks whether we are any closer to understanding what the future of work will actually look like, and what roles, if any, might remain uniquely human. It also moves beyond individual careers to consider the bigger picture: what education, policy and business leadership need to do to ensure people can adapt and access opportunity in an AI-driven economy.

The episode features Ben Legg, former COO of Google Europe and CEO of The Portfolio Collective, alongside Anne-Marie Maley, Vice Chair at Deloitte UK. Together, they explore how both individuals and businesses can prepare for a future where many jobs don’t yet exist.

The 100th episode also marks the start of a new seven-part series looking at how AI could drive economic growth across the UK. Episodes will examine who stands to benefit, how organisations need to adapt, and what should sit at the centre of decision-making as technology continues to evolve.
