Big news if you are a fan of the absurd hospital sitcom Green Wing. The series, which ran on Channel 4 before 2004 and 2007 and was put together by the same team behind Smack the Pony has been revived (!) as a podcast (!!).
The series ran on Channel 4 between 2004 and 2007. Now 15 years on, it is back as Green Wing: Resuscitated, with six episodes now available to listen to. Many of the original cast have reprised their roles too, with a cast starring Olivia Colman, Oliver Chris, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Tamsin Greig, Stephen Mangan, Mark Heap, Michelle Gomez and Pippa Haywood. And the reviews have been positive, with Fiona Sturges in the Financial Times writing that an “anarchic energy of the original remains.”
The only hitch is that the series does stretch what a podcast is these days as the series is available only through Audible. If you are a current member it's available free through the Plus Catalogue. If you have an account, but not membership then it will cost one credit or £11.09. Although, I bet that won’t stop fans from listening anyway. And these sorts of large productions aren’t cheap to put together either.
