Colman & Cumberbatch Kick Off New Season of Dish

The hit food podcast returns today with Colman and Cumberbatch at the table — the first in a starry line-up for season eight.

Dish from Waitrose is back for its eighth season, and it launches today (10th Sept) with Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch sharing food, drinks and unfiltered conversation with hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.

The Oscar winners talk about working together, how they survive press junkets, and why acting drunk on screen can be trickier than it looks. Cumberbatch admits to jazzing up his gin and tonics with “a little bit of rosemary… some fruit from the fridge… and a nice Italian blood orange tonic,” while Colman confesses she likes to “jazz my gin up with prosecco and St. Germain.”

Colman also shares that Hartnett’s lemon risotto and carbonara have become staples in her home: “Everyone who came for dinner would go, ‘Are we having the risotto again?’ and we realised we did it every time. And also your carbonara, which I do all the time for my son’s girlfriend — she thinks I’m an amazing cook because of it.”

On their long friendship, Cumberbatch says: “We adore each other… it’s three days of me telling the world what they already know, which is she’s bloody amazing.” Colman replies simply: “He always, always nails it. We really love each other.”

Future episodes promise more A-list guests around the dinner table, from Graham Norton and Mark Ronson to Suranne Jones, Vicky McClure and Sir Grayson Perry. Emilia Fox and Mawaan Rizwan are also set to appear.

Since its launch in 2022, Dish has become one of the UK’s most popular food podcasts, blending Angela’s kitchen expertise with Grimshaw’s irreverent hosting. Listeners can expect more of the same this season: part dinner party, part celebrity confessional.

The show will also head to the stage for a one-off live special at London’s Royal Opera House on 17th September — already sold out.

Season eight of Dish from Waitrose is available now on all major podcast platforms, with full filmed episodes streaming on YouTube and Spotify.
