This week in podcasting: podcasting through Pride

Plus: podcast masterlasses?

In last week’s column, we featured podcasts marking Pride month and asked you for your suggestions - and you delivered.

This Was Always Me features guests talking about how they had hidden their sexuality or gender identity in their past because of their career, religious pressure, or because of where they live. There’s a mix of interesting guests included, from a refugee to a former Conservative MP.

A recent episode featured Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes on the fears she experienced of being discharged from the armed forces because of her sexuality.

Meanwhile, The Problematic Gaze with social historian Dr Lee Arnott and TV producer Dave Moor looks back at the impact of the pioneering UK gay magazine show Gay Life and the film Paris is Burning.

On a different topic, for those who are interested in getting into podcasting, Goalhanger, the podcast company behind The Rest Is… podcasts, have launched a new monthly masterclass series. Episodes feature insights from their team on topics such as how to produce different formats to how to navigate the industry. To register your interest, just head to the Goalhanger website.
