Louis Theroux Launches Mindhouse Podcast Division

New podcast and digital studios

Louis Theroux’s production company, Mindhouse, known for its high-quality documentaries, is launching a podcast and digital studio.

Having started his own podcast for BBC Sounds and BBC Radio 4, Grounded with Louis Theroux, in lockdown, Theroux described the experience as a “lightbulb moment for me to see how it connected with people and how these programs can connect with people, have a big reach and be fun to make.” The series won The Spotlight Award at the British Podcast Awards in 2021.

He then launched The Louis Theroux Podcast with Spotify, now in its sixth season, as well as producing Rylan Clark’s How to Be… podcast with Mindhouse for the BBC. Following these successes, podcasting is now being fully integrated into the company under the banner of Mindhouse Studios.

Arron Fellows, Co-Founder & Creative Director at Mindhouse, said, “Podcasts offer something a little different to television given their intimacy and variety and we’re excited to dive into the audio space. But we also see an opportunity to build on our talent relationships and to potentially test-drive ideas for TV”.

Theroux sees this as a chance to “cut through some of the undergrowth of the commissioning process and the staffing process”, getting new stories out there as quickly as possible.
