Claudia Winkleman reveals she nearly turned down the Traitors

She's the first guest of the new series of Dish

Award winning podcast Dish, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Michelin star chef Angela Hartnett, returns today for a brand new season and the first guest in the kitchen is Claudia Winkleman.

The presenter may have been a large part of the success of the Traitors, but she revealed that she nearly missed out on hosting the TV smash hit through her “innate laziness”. Claudia said:

“I was like, I'm really sorry I can't go to Scotland for three and a half weeks, but thank you so much for thinking of me. And they said, ‘Just before you say definite no, can we just send you the tapes of the Dutch version?’ …and then four days later, ‘Have you watched it yet?’ I was like, no… I am napping. Then I watched all twelve In one sitting. Then I texted my boss at the BBC, Kate, and I said, I'll book my own train. Yeah, I'm coming. I'm going to Inverness.”

The national treasure talks about the Traitors, Strictly, leaving BBC Radio 2 and getting confused for Davina McCall.

The cosy dinner party format has proved a hit in previous seasons, building a loyal following and a healthy showing in the charts. Podcasting duos appear to be the order of the day for Season 5 with Lily Allen & Miquita Oliver, Jordan North & William Hanson, and Elis James & John Robins set to join Hartnett & Grimshaw. Guest appearing solo include Kaya Scodelario, Elizabeth Day, and Jay Blades.

New episodes of Dish are out each Wednesday wherever you get your podcasts.
