Physicist, broadcaster, and Crick Scholar Professor Brian Cox will host a new podcast series, A Question of Science, in which leading experts debate major scientific topics with a live audience. Produced by BBC Studios for the Francis Crick Institute, the first episode launches today.
Each episode explores pressing questions in science, from curing cancer and surviving climate change to the challenges of artificial intelligence. The series blends expert discussion with questions from the public, aiming to make science accessible and directly relevant to everyday concerns.
The opening episode, “Could we live forever?”, focuses on ageing. Panelists examine the latest research and medical developments that could help people live longer and age better.
Audience participation is central to the show, with attendees able to ask questions directly to the panel. Contributors in this series include Jeanette Winterson, Rory Cellan-Jones, Anil Seth, Helen Sharman, Adam Rutherford, Paul Nurse, George Monbiot, Giles Yeo, Saliha Mahmood Ahmed, and Lauren Mahon from You, Me and the Big C.
Discussions are recorded just metres from the Crick’s research laboratories, where many of the topics under discussion are being actively investigated.
Cox said: “Science can no longer sit in isolation. New discoveries affect all of us, and the public should be part of the conversation. The show is about bringing real audience questions to the experts who have spent their careers seeking answers.”
A Question of Science is available on all major platforms today, with new episodes released weekly.
