Audio Production Awards launches “Pay What You Can” scheme

Ticket prices have been a hot topic of discussion on the podcast awards scene in recent times with independent producers and smaller production companies warning of ever rising costs. In a move to address this AudioUK, organisers of the Audio Production Awards, have launched a "pay what you can" scheme to encourage attendance from those who would not normally be able to afford to buy a ticket.

The APAs are returning for their fourteenth year this November, with last year's winners including Podcast Rex favourites Catherine Carr (host of Where Are You Going?), Anishka Sharma (Executive Producer, Pod Save the UK) and Made by Mortals (producers of Armchair Adventures).

The "pay what you can" scheme was first introduced in 2021 and has continued into 2024, enabled by APA sponsors Amazon Music and Wondery. With an aim of stimulating career progression for those who would previously not have been able to afford a ticket, the ultimate goal is to establish a more equitable audio industry.

Entries are open until Wednesday 11th September, with the ceremony taking place at the BFI in London two months later on Wednesday 20th November.
