5 Female-Led Podcasts to Listen to This International Women’s Day

Podcasts that should be on your radar: from sport and finance to fame and failure

Thanks to support from What’s the Call

With International Women’s Day just around the corner, now feels like the perfect moment to highlight some female-led podcasts you should be listening to.

Starting off with What’s the Call? , an exciting new sports podcast focusing on all the biggest events in tennis and bringing a female perspective to the male-dominated world. Hosted by Theodora Petalas, a sports and entertainment strategy consultant, and Andrea Jimenez, who is completing her PhD in psychology, the pair are lifelong tennis fans, and discuss the game the way fans would off-broadcast.

In Financial Feminist, expert financial educator Tori Dunlap hosts a podcast guiding people, particularly women, to feel more financially confident. This is a practical guide to making more, spending less and how to save. Dunlap’s mission is to empower women with accessible advice, breaking down money myths and “kicking some patriarchal ass” along the way.

Olivia's House with Olivia Atwood is a new chart-topping interview series hosted by TV personality Olivia Atwood, where she talks to guests including comedian Grace Campbell, reality star Toni Lates and celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton about everything from love and family to fame and success - no topic is off-limits. The conversations are unfiltered and funny, placing women’s experiences front and centre.

A fan of Olivia’s, and a reciprocal guest on her show, is Elizabeth Day, who hosts the hugely successful How To Fail with Elizabeth Day, a podcast exploring the things that haven’t gone right and what they teach us. Through thoughtful interviews with an array of public figures, she discovers how their setbacks shaped them and what listeners can learn from their mistakes.

Lastly, 28 Ish Days Later from the BBC Radio 4 archives is an intimate and British Podcast Award winning series tackling the taboos around periods and women’s health. Each episode represents a day in the cycle, presented by journalist and producer India Rakusen, who is joined by medical professionals on a journey to educate listeners. The show is packed with information on the hormonal shifts that shape mood, to astonishing facts about how the womb repairs itself.
