The best spy podcasts right now

With the latest series of the (excellent) British spy thriller Slow Horses debuting on the streaming service AppleTV+ recently, here’s some interesting spy podcasts that you can listen to between watching episodes.

The Spy Who has just debuted a new series looking at Willie Carlin. He was a Derry Catholic and British spy who, during the Troubles, infiltrated the Irish Republican movement in the hope of finding a peaceful solution to the conflict. The story is told with a mixture of Wondery’s trademark storytelling and sound design with early access to the latest episode available to subscribers.

True Spies throws you into the world of daring espionage and detective stories. They have recently rereleased a couple of their most well known stories and have interviews with former agents about the reality of their work.

You might have missed History’s Secret Heroes. Narrated by Helena Bonham Carter, the series shines a light on underrated stories from World War II, including how an American spy managed to pull off an audacious prison break.

Meanwhile Undercover: The Spycops looks at how the infiltration of an undercover police officer in a climate activist group then devastated lives once his true identity had been revealed.
