The Observer journalist and fellow podcast critic Miranda Sawyer has an engrossing and nostalgia-tastic new series all about the 90s, delving into the trends and hedonism, and interviewing the people who were at the very heart of culture at the time. There’s a lot of interesting subject matter to cover: Britpop, Cool Britannia, rave culture, the rise and fall of lad's mags, the rise of ‘girl power’ and so on.

The first episode is about the impact of Oasis (seems very well timed) and features an in-depth interview with Ted Kessler, the author behind a book called “A Sound So Very Loud,” which explores every track the band has ever made. They both talk about how Oasis came with a sound that was fully formed and a stage presence that was distinctive and different to everyone else. They also talk about, of course, the band’s notable rivalry with Blur. New episodes are out every Monday.
