This BBC Radio 4 series and recent British Podcast Awards nominee, hosted by the comedian Josie Long, collates and showcases the very best in short documentaries from around the world. Each episode is loosely tied to a subject, such as ‘dreams and hidden places’ and the ‘language of care,’ but the range of audio in each episode gives the whole show an unpredictable feel.

In one episode I listened to, all about ‘the dangers of becoming lost,’ there’s a funny local radio blooper featuring a confused listener, a skit involving an automated phone line going round in circles and a short item on the decline of the Cockney community in East London. Think of this series as a bit like a BBC Radio 4 version of This American Life, and best enjoyed through your headphones.
