Baroness Shami Chakrabarti is one of the most well known human rights lawyers and activists in the country, and has been described as "probably the most effective public affairs lobbyist of the past 20 years." She’s been involved in countless news stories from concerns of excessive anti-terror legislation and invasive spying following 7/7, to the Leveson Inquiry following the phone hacking scandal.
In this new series, she has engaging and relaxed conversations with people who have also dedicated their lives around human rights, politics and policy, asking them about their careers and the forces that drive the world today. There’s an interesting selection of guests: Nicola Sturgeon reflecting on her time being First Minister of Scotland, and the Orwell Prize winning author Gary Younge on writing as a form of resistance. Shami is a great interviewer.
