If you know television well, you’ll know about Jimmy Mulville and Peter Fincham, two of the most influential people within the industry. Mulville is the creator of Have I Got News For You and is behind Hat Trick, who are responsible for Derry Girls, Outnumbered and Father Ted. Meanwhile, Fincham has executive produced The Day Today and I’m Alan Partridge and is the co-CEO of Expectation, behind Clarkson’s Farm and Alma’s Not Normal.
They’ve now teamed up for a new podcast, out this week, which explores the inner workings of the industry from their decades worth of experience. A bit like The Rest is Entertainment, it explains how things work within the industry, such as why there are so many travel shows fronted by household names and the decisions surrounding who and who doesn’t make the credits in the closing moments of a programme.
