In 2019 Elis James and John Robins launched a BBC Radio 5 Live podcast where guests spoke frankly about the obstacles they have faced in their own lives, particularly in regards to their mental health.

The podcast built up quite the loyal following, and received praise for the way it subtly encouraged listeners to reframe and give themselves more credit for the way they are navigating their own challenges. Now, a couple of years after their most recent series, the podcast has been picked up by the podcast company Wondery. It’s just John Robins interviewing solo this time, but it has retained the same ethos that made it so popular.

Robins’ first guest is Justin Hawkins, lead singer of The Darkness. He talks about how he sought help in a ‘12 step’ programme and how cutting out the people who he says he used to ‘misbehave’ with was a positive step in his recovery. Upcoming guests include Rosie Jones, Jordan Stephens and Amanda Knox. The first episode is now on Wondery+, with episodes available on other podcast platforms from Monday February 24th.
