Gangster: The Story of the Daniels and the Lyons

A new series of the popular BBC Radio 5 Live podcast that throws you into gangsters. Their latest series looks at two crime families, the Daniels and the Lyons, and an active two-decade feud between the pair that has resulted in copious torture, violence and murder in and around Glasgow.

Both families are very well connected in the city, so journalist Livvy Haydock initially found it difficult to get anyone to talk about them, fearing reprisals. Yet she’s persistent, digging into how the feud originally developed, how the crime families operate and how innocent people have been affected by the violence. It also highlights how, as this a feud that has run through generations, it has hope of ending any time soon.

“It’s never ever going to be resolved,” says journalist David Leslie. “This dispute will go on till the end of time.”

It’s a well-told, excellent series with fantastic sound production. Gangster is available wherever you get your podcasts, but those listening through BBC Sounds can already hear the whole series.
