I’ve been a fan of BBC broadcaster Neil Brand ever since his BBC Four documentaries exploring the music that underpins television storytelling.

An engaging interviewer and natural storyteller, Brand now fronts a new podcast series in which he invites a well-known guest to share their favourite piece of music. You might think it sounds a bit like Desert Island Discs, but a key difference: Brand and his guest unpack the song and the artist behind it, delving into what makes it special. Each episode waves through genres and eras, with Brand’s curiosity and enthusiasm shining through throughout. It’s a true delight.
