Which Football Fans are the Biggest Podcast Listeners?

And who's the most popular football podcast for each club?

Spotify has been busy looking at all of the listening on their platform and released its first ever Football Podcast League Table, to find out which clubs have the fastest-growing, most loyal, biggest fanbases in terms of their fan podcast consumption

Arsenal fans tuned into their favourite club podcasts more than any other fans across last season, and was double the amount of their North London neighbours Tottenham, knocking them into second place. It turns out that Arsenal fans spent 24 hours on average listening to fan made podcasts over the course of last season.

Meanwhile Premier League champions Man City only managed to scrape 12th place in total fan podcast hours streamed last season, well below their city rivals Manchester United in 4th, and also below the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle.

In terms of fastest-growing fan bases and podcasts, Nottingham Forest grew their streams by 225% compared to the 21/22 season, whilst the biggest growing individual podcast of the season was Newcastle’s The Toon Review at a massive 5015% increase, coinciding with the club’s first Champions League finish in 20 years. 

League 2 newbies Wrexham also saw their popularity skyrocket, with 177% growth since the 21/22 season - highlighting the Reynolds’ effect with Rob.Ryan.Red coming out on top as their most popular podcast – which would put them above the likes of Wolves, Crystal Palace and West Ham.

In terms of individual podcast listening, Arsenal’s Arseblog Arsecast is the most popular fan podcast in the UK in terms of hours listened over the course of last season, with Tottenham’s Last Word on Spurs in second, followed by Liverpool’s The Redmen TV.
